There is something about reading. Lots of us do it here on wordpress, it’s what has brought us together, and I tried to put into words exactly what it is that I love for Perdiz Magazine last week.
Here’s an excerpt from my piece, but head to the beautiful Perdiz (HERE) to read the full article.
“I was sat on my bed reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when I discovered my mum was moving us in with some strange man that wasn’t my dad. I stared at the fading bobbled butterflies on my duvet cover for a few seconds, and then I turned back to Violet Beauregarde ballooning into a giant blueberry. Her plight in this chocolate fantasy land made more sense to me than anything the real world could offer in that moment.
That’s the thing about books, and certainly about great books, they make sense. They are written to make sense. As for the world around us, that’s anybody’s guess.”
Day Two of Photography101… the street.
Under the Bridge.
In the middle of the city, amidst the murky river and the singing train tracks, the air smells of the dusty pages that render the space silent.
As my eyelids fall this evening I shall hurry to wizardly worlds thanks to this new little bedtime reading gem, from the masterly quill of Ms Rowling… #100happydays #day105
One of my favourite rituals when it comes to holiday packing… selecting the literary fodder I am going to guzzle whilst I’m drinking up the sunshine. #100happydays #day102
It takes a certain breed of human to find a thermal coffee cup covered in skulls an object of charm. I am of that breed. Perhaps it was my diet of horror films and adult fiction as a child. Although I did also watch Disney and I will admit to perusing the pages of The Babysitters Club books. #100happydays #day49
I set my heart on building a library in my home when I began planning my dream abode in a sketch book at my Aunt and Uncle’s house one summer when I was eight. The plans were over ambitious and immensely excessive, not one room measured under ten metres, but in my driven, one might say naive, mind they were completely obtainable. I don’t have the library, yet. But upon discovery of this curtain I am certainly closer than I have ever been before. #100happydays #day44
